Detailed information for participants from UNESCO music cities:

Dear UNESCO friends,

Kırşehir in 2019; It became a creative city in the field of music by being included in the UCCN network. We participated in the music festival called The Journey of the Drum, organized in collaboration with the Music City Kansas and Poland Export. We also regularly attended UCCN meetings. We evaluated the MMR reports of some cities. We chose our new UNESCO logo in a competition held in our city and got it approved by UNESCO. We had our two-day face-to-face national workshop. We have built music corners in our city where our local street musicians can perform all kinds of music. These music corners, which we put in different parts of our city, were designed and made in the form of our three most used musical instruments (saz, drum, violin) in our culture. Now we are planning to turn the figures related to our own music into souvenirs. For this purpose, we will organize a "Souvenir Design Contest". We are preparing for this competition. It's been two and a half years since I joined the UCCN network. We, like all UCCN cities, continue to work to fulfill our commitments.

Our commitments include an international conference. The ultimate aim of this conference is to create a synergy between UNESCO music cities. In this conference, we are planning to talk about "protection of traditional music passed from father to son within the framework of sustainable development strategies of cities" as the main topic. Of course there are other issues as well. All topics of the conference are included at the end of this text.

We look forward to the participation of you, as the representative of your city's UNESCO music city, and/or local artists/artists from your city or anyone/someone from your city who wants to talk about this issue. All topics of the conference are below. We expect you to choose one or more topics from there and participate in our online conference by speaking, albeit for a very short time. You can set your speaking time from 1 minute to 20 minutes.

If one of the conference topics does not appeal to you, you can also tell us what you have done against the effects of the pandemic as a UNESCO city of music or what measures you have taken to ensure the continuation of your creative artistic field(s). We certainly expect a contribution from you. We will be very happy to see all our music cities at our conference on Zoom! Please join our conference!

As we mentioned above, the important thing for us is that you are with us at the conference, even if it is for a minute. It doesn't matter what you are going to tell. So the important thing for us is that you contribute to the synergy by communicating with us.

You can choose the topic you plan to talk about or express your opinion on, and send us to (For UNESCO Music Cities) cityofmusic@kirsehir.bel.tr (Oylum Oztas) until April 21st, 2022.

Please send it to your e-mail address. We will also make a plan on which day and at what time you will talk about the topic of your choice. We will send you the date-time and zoom link of your talk.

Please don't feel like you have to tell something academic or important to be a speaker. Our goal is to get together and just communicate. That's all!

Detailed Information for Those Who Will Attend to Present Academic Papers

UNESCO CITY OF MUSIC KIRŞEHİR INTERNATIONAL MUSIC CONFERENCE

We invite you to the "UNESCO Music City Kırşehir International Music Conference", hosted by Kırşehir Municipality and organized jointly with Ahi Evran University, to be held in Kırşehir on May 17th-18th, 2022.

By Kırşehir Municipality for the inclusion of Kırşehir in the "UNESCO Creative Cities Network" in the field of music.

The application prepared was put on the agenda at the meeting of the board of directors of AHIKA (Ahiler Development Agency) in April 2019. AHIKA board of directors decided to support this application. In line with this decision, our application was prepared by drawing attention to the historically intertwined nature of our city with music and the cultural heritage left to the city by the tradition of "Abdalism"-a bard who sings traditional bozlak songs- and "Singing Bozlak" by taking the opinions of relevant institutions with the support of Kırşehir Governor İbrahim Akın.

In addition, the application, which includes information on locally and nationally recognized music masters, was submitted to the relevant unit of UNESCO at the end of June 2019. As a result of the evaluation, Kırşehir became the first city from Turkey to be included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of music.

We hope that important exchanges will be made for academicians, educators, students and participants from different fields - together with the field of music - at the conference. It is thought that the scientific sharing environments in which the studies on the following topics are included will contribute to the promotion of the music culture of our province of Kırşehir, which is located in the center of Anatolia and makes significant contributions to Turkish and world culture with the scientists and artists it has trained. We will be honored if you participate in our conference and support us, with the thought that world cities included in the music network by UNESCO will open the door to joint projects in communication and interaction with their musical cultures.
